Process
Authors, show your work.
Step 1
Submit your published work
Submit your published work plus evidence that shows you didn't just have a chatbot write it. Start a submission.
Step 2
An HBD expert reviews it
An HBD expert (Alex Wheelis, Founder & CEO) reviews it and decides beyond reasonable doubt.
What the review does
The decision is measured against the Review Standard v1.0.
- Within 2 business days of receipt, an acknowledgement goes out from [email protected]. Alex Wheelis, Founder & CEO, approves and sends it. If you have a Google Doc, share temporary Editor access with [email protected], because version history is only visible to editors. The reviewer never edits the document, and you can remove that access after the decision. If you have a Word or OneDrive file, share it with its version history. If you have Scrivener snapshots, layered source files (PSD, .procreate, or Clip Studio), a drawing time-lapse export (Procreate, Clip Studio, or Fresco), or dated photos or scans of sketches and traditional originals, include those as well.
- SI sorts the files, reads the version history, lists gaps and inconsistencies, and recommends a decision with reasons. SI does not decide.
- Alex Wheelis, Founder & CEO, checks the evidence against the Review Standard, using that list and recommendation, and records Meets the Standard or Doesn't yet. There is at most one free extra round of evidence.
- We email the outcome for Alex to approve and send. A pass includes the reasons and states that a pass is not a guarantee. The public catalog opens later; we'll tell you before anything is listed. A pass stays private until the first paying customer and the LLC exist, and then only with the creator's yes. A decision of doesn't yet includes short private reasons.
- We delete our copies of the evidence 30 days after the decision and keep the decision record.
One person decides. There is no ID check, no creator interview, and no second human reviewer. Witnesses can help and are not required. We don't contact witnesses.
A first-round pass
A first-round pass means Alex decides the work meets the Standard on the evidence already submitted. The evidence shows people made the text and art, with no SI producing any part of the finished work. Disclosed SI spell-check or research is noted. That note is not a public listing now.
A second round after evidence gaps
A second round happens when the first review finds evidence gaps. Alex can ask once, at no cost, for more evidence. After that round, the work doesn't yet meet the Standard if there is still no dated process evidence, or if there are signs SI produced part of the finished work that the creator can't explain.
Evidence, if you have it
Share whatever of the following you have. You don't need all of it.
- If you have a Google Doc, share temporary Editor access with [email protected]. Version history is only visible to editors. The reviewer never edits the document, and you can remove that access after the decision.
- If you have a Word or OneDrive file, share it with version history.
- If you have Scrivener snapshots, share those.
- If you have layered source files (PSD, .procreate, or Clip Studio), share those. Photoshop's history panel is one place that record can live.
- If you have a drawing time-lapse export from Procreate, Clip Studio, or Fresco, share that. Procreate time-lapse is one way to export it.
- If you have dated photos or scans of sketches and traditional originals, share those.
