About

Made by humans, beyond reasonable doubt.

Why we exist

In an age where humans and superintelligence (SI) coexist, we believe there should still be literature and art that is authentically human, because the human experience is best captured by work that people truly made.

By superintelligence (SI) we mean computer systems that generate writing, art, music or other creative work.

People will be influenced by SI, and that will shape how they express what they live through. We draw the line at the making: a person's expression of their reality should reach the page in its rawest form, with no SI in the middle. That belief is why HumanBeyondDoubt exists.

Why we care

Images, video, stories and music have become cheap in the age of SI. We want to set aside a remnant of books and art made the way they were made before 2022, so that parents, teachers, artists, children and everyone else can enjoy work they can trust is human, and keep making their own.

Founding principles

Free pilot: we're reviewing a small number of books at no cost while we refine the process.

From the founder

I'm Alex. I'm incredibly passionate about truth and the human experience. Recently I've become a dad and have been exposed to the world of children's books. Dramatic stories of bunnies outsmarting devious foxes make me appreciate writers and illustrators, while I do lack those same precious abilities.

AI has made it incredibly expedient to churn out text of all flavors. From prose to code, an AI can seemingly write it all. But rarely do humans like to read something written by AI. We especially don't like reading something we thought was made by a human, which then turned out to be the motivations of tensors, backpropagation, and whirring bare-metal boxes. A brother of mine described a recent poor experience on YouTube to me: he was looking at a nature video of gazelle and lion (raw stuff, no doubt), but later found out that it was AI generated. To his disappointment he was experiencing a lossy representation of reality, rather than what was truly happening.

I write code for a living and have for my whole career. This year I have uniquely been looking at a lot of AI generated code. Thousands of hours of experience has trained my eye to spot AI slop better than the average person. This ability pairs well with my affinity to preserve human experience.

AI, now Superintelligence (SI) is most likely here to stay, but human writing and art don't have to leave to make room for it. HumanBeyondDoubt.com exists so preserve the precious fabric of truth so readers, listeners, and viewers can know, beyond reasonable doubt, that they are looking at a human creation. Our service demands proof for claims that work is human-made, because that same work might be just as easily produced by AI/SI. We then use this proof and ask, "does this proof support the author's claim that they wrote it?" If so, we award the creator with a spot in our catalog.

I'm eager and appropriately able to help us humans create and share content in trust.

- Alex

P.S.: I write this with my own hand. If you're a writer at all, you can probably tell that because some of the grammar isn't that great :)
